The Duathlon (1.5 mile run, 9 mile ride, 2 mile run) is a short but challenging course, with each segment featuring a steady uphill to to challenge even the more experienced racer.
1st Run - left out of Balmer School onto Crescent St. Take right onto Hickory, left onto Carole, right onto Rachel, right onto Hickory, left onto Carole, right onto Conservation, right onto Lake, left onto Crescent and back to Balmer School.
Bike - take left out of Balmer School onto Crescent St. Stay straight on Swift to Goldthwaite. Take right on Goldthwaite, right on Hill, right onto Upper High St, bear right onto Chestnut, left onto Maple, right onto Main St/Whitinsville Rd. After crossing rt 146, take right onto Barnett, right on Mendon, left onto Carr. Take right onto Purgatory, then left onto Goldthwaite. Take right onto Swift and back to Balmer School.
2nd Run - Take left out of Balmer School onto Crescent, then left onto Mason. Take left to stay on Mason at Dover, then right onto Walker. At end of Walker, turnaround and return back to Balmer the same way you just came from to the Finish Line!
The 5k route has been slightly adjusted from the 2012 route to accommodate the new finish line location with timing mats – Take left out of Balmer on Crescent, then continue up Swift to Goldthwaite. Take right on Goldthwaite, then left on Carpenter and down hill. Take right onto Shannon, then first right in circle onto Samuel. Take left onto Carpenter, right onto Goldthwaite, then left on Swift back down to Balmer School.
The Kids Off-Road Duathlon (0.2 mile run, 0.5-0.8 mile ride (based on age), 0.1 mile run) and Kids Fun Run (0.1 mile run) courses are entirely on the grounds of Balmer School. The Duathlon is an off-road course so traditional road bikes are not appropriate. Also, no training wheels will be allowed on the course.
100% of sponsorships and a portion of the registration fees will go towards the Northbridge PTA.
